Born in Jamaica 1986, attended Edna Manley School of Visual Arts.
Monique Lofters was born on the beautiful Caribbean island of Jamaica in 1987. She attended the Quest Preparatory School where she found her love for art through the school’s art club program. This instant passion started at a young age, setting goals aiming towards being an artist. Her parents and friends are her main supporters in everything she did, even this. During her high school tenure at the St. Andrew High School for Girls she was active in sports and clubs and still kept her head high in achieving her dreams as she aimed for the highest.
Monique ensured that she was enrolled in the Edna Manley’s part time art program every year for both Saturday and summer school sessions, until she was officially enrolled as a college student there. She has completed her B.F.A in 2009 in painting and is now at the top of her game as she continues to exhibit worldwide such as London and Cayman.
Monique envisions herself being an art restorer and conservationist, designer and a painter as her career path. She intends on developing art restoration as a niche market in Jamaica in the near future. She plans on furthering her studies in Spain, Cuba, or the U.S to do her masters in Art, painting and minor in restoration and conservation. At this point she will be entering into publishing bible translation illustrations for the minority languages.
